This is a French film about a violin maker named Stephane that lives a solitary existence and seems to be interested in staying that way. This changes when Stephane meets and falls in love with the mistress of his business partner. The business partner is married and keeps giving her false promises that he will one day leave his wife. She is a wonderful violin player and she also becomes interested in Stephane and decides to leave her other relationship to pursue him. She becomes obsessed with Stephane and the more she pursues him the more aloof he becomes in this dramatic love story.
