Loretta and Henri believe they are the pillars of society in their French town. They want everyone to believe that they are the best at what they do, so they conspire to take in a girl who needs help. They tell the girl that she is part of their family, but they also convince her that she should play a practical joke on everyone in town. She is to tell everyone that she is pregnant.
