Watch Black Orchid

This tightly scripted and well acted British crime mystery draws its name from an unusual flower. It was directed by Charles Saunders. The film recounts the story of a dedicated, hard-working physician named Dr. John Winnington (played by Ronald Howard), who has drifted apart from his wife, Sophie (Mary Laura Wood). Shortly after her attractive younger sister, Christine (Olga Edwardes) moves into their household, Mrs. Winnington dies under mysterious circumstances. The police accuse Dr. Winnington of murdering her. A family friend named Eric Blair (John Bentley) works with Christine and the pair endeavor to exonerate John Winnington of the offense.
