Watch Ciske de Rat

Cis is a troubled boy living in the center of Amsterdam in the 1930s who is struggling with an uncaring mother and absent father who travels often as a sailor. Cis is constantly in trouble with the authorities and his school where he only ever feels safe in the presence of a teacher named Bruis. Eventually, Cis runs out of chances with the police and school authorities and finds himself dispatched to a detention center where his resentment towards his family continues to grow.
