Codine is a French/Romanian movie about a brutish ex-convict who lives with his miserly mother. The movie is set at the beginning of the 20th century in Braila, a city in Romania. When the ex-con kills a man who had betrayed him, his mother becomes paranoid. Convinced that her son plans to steal her hoarded money, she decides to kill him.
