El Crimen de Cuenca is a drama based on true events. In 1910, a man named Jose Maria Grimaldos disappears suddenly and his family suspects foul play. They report it to the rural police force, the Guardia Civil. After a short investigation two men, Gregorio Valero and Leon Sanchez, are accused of killing him for his money. The two men undergo two trials before they are convicted and sentenced for the crime. It appears that justice has prevailed. The movie explores the crime and the treatment of the two suspects by the Guardia Civil during their interrogation and the two trials.
