Sent to cover a revolution in the dusty African republic of Ashmaelia, Boot encounters no actual fighting but a veritable army of eccentrics: feckless journalists, devious government ministers, and scheming ex-pats. Most importantly, he becomes captivated by Katchen--the beautiful but fickle wife of a wayward geologist--who clearly has her own agenda.
