Seeking the truth about himself, the young man from Nirvo, Illinois sets out on a quest in the forest. Only, he isn't alone. He is with his spirits, as he calls them. They are actually magic mushrooms that give him the ability to see into the depths of his own soul in ways never before possible. His narrow life seems to expand beyond the boring days in the fields of Illinois and into something that excites him and spurs a zest for life. When he reaches a waterfall, he meets a young woman. A romance begins to kindle between the two.
