The actor Nolte plays a dual role in this documentary, portraying himself as well as a television journalist who interviews him regarding his film career. Among the areas covered by the reporter's questions are Nolte's growing up years, his first break into the entertainment industry, his method of acting and the influences that have shaped his work, as well as his many publicized arrests for such transgressions as drunk driving.
