Nosotros Los Pobres ("We, the Poor") is a 1948 drama directed by Mexican filmmaker Ismael Rodríguez. The movie begins when two children find a discarded book in a trash can that details the story of an impoverished neighborhood in Mexico City. Father Pepe 'El Toro' lives with his daughter 'Chachita' while beginning a relationship with 'La Chorreada'. Surrounded by comical, wacky neighbors, Pepe works hard to earn money but his daughter Chachita unfortunately reveals the location to La Chorreada's evil stepfather. When Pepe's friends are unfairly arrested, Pepe finds himself scrambling to recover his stolen money and bail his friends out of jail.
