The movie Oz is an Australian film. It starts Joy Dunstan and Graham Matters. The film also features Bruce Spence, and Robin Ramsay. This movie was nominated for four AFI Awards in Australia. This movie was made with teen and young adult viewers in mind. The movie follows Dorothy who is a sixteen year old girl who is taking a trip on the road with a rock and roll band. The band is called Wally and the Falcons. The van gets into an accident and Dorothy hits her head hard. When she comes to again she find herself in a world of fantasy. Everything is this world is not nice. It is dark and sleazy. She finds out that she had killed someone. This person was a young thug but that did not make a difference to Dorothy. She travels on in this strange world and meets a gay fairy. The fairy is named Glin the Good Fairy. This fairy gives Dorothy a pair of red shoes that are said to be magical. These shoes will help her find her way to the Wizard concert. The concert is one of their last shows. Wizard is a glam rock band and very popular. While on the way to the concert the thug’s brother is chasing after her. She is almost raped by this thug but manages to get away. Along the way she meets some unusual people as well. She meets Blondie who is the typical airhead surfer type. She also meets Greaseball who is a mechanic and a little rough around the edges. She also meets Killer. He is a biker with no courage. These guys all help Dorothy find her way to the concert. With the help of her new friends Dorothy is able to get to the Wizard concert on time and rock out with the rest of the crowd.
