Ruin Me is a 2017 horror-thriller film directed by Preston DeFrancis and starring Marcienne Dwyer and Matt Dellapina. The movie follows a young woman named Alex, who reluctantly agrees to participate in an immersive horror game in the woods, only to have the game turn into a true nightmare. At the start of the film, we are introduced to Alex, a recovering drug addict who is dating an enthusiast of horror games Nate. Nate surprises Alex with a ticket to a horror-themed camping trip called Slasher Sleepout, where they will spend an entire night in the woods with other horror fans, all while participating in a realistic horror game. As a bit of a skeptic, Alex isn't overly excited about the idea but begrudgingly agrees to accompany Nate on the trip.

The group of participants is comprised of different "horror types": there's the jock, the nerd, the goth, and the horror movie expert, among others. They are led by the energetic and charismatic company owner, who explains the rules of the game and presents them with their first task: to break into teams of two and set up camp for the night out in the wilderness.

As the game progresses, it becomes clear that the stakes are much higher than the players thought, and the lines between what is real and what is part of the game start to blur. Strange and unnerving things begin to happen, and the players start to feel like something is really out there in the woods with them, something that is not part of the game.

Alex finds herself questioning what is real and what is part of the game, and what started out as a fun horror-themed camping trip quickly turns into a terrifying fight for survival. With no way to contact the outside world and increasing paranoia among the players, Alex must rely on her own instincts and wits to make it through the night.

The film is visually impressive, with beautiful cinematography that captures the eerie setting of the woods and the horror elements of the game. The pacing is well-done, and the tension builds steadily throughout the film, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

Tightly edited and brilliantly acted, Ruin Me offers a genuinely scary experience that is both fun and terrifying. The film raises questions about the nature of fear and the human need to be scared, both as a form of entertainment and as a way to process real-life fears.

Overall, Ruin Me is a must-see for any fan of horror, especially those who enjoy the immersive experience of horror games. The film is a perfect blend of suspense, terror, and surprising moments of levity, with an ending that will leave you wanting more.

Ruin Me is a 2018 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 27 minutes.
