This dramatic movie is the story of Ruby Starr who is a new teenage mom. Her family is not supporting her, and she runs away to the streets of Hollywood. Not knowing how else to earn money, she becomes a working girl who gets preyed upon by the pimps. Carla, a black prostitute old enough to be Ruby's mother, schools Ruby in the ways of the streets and helps her to strike out by herself to the discontent of the pimps.
