A love-struck detective falls for a gangster's unwilling moll in this vintage crime tale. When Viola Avery (Esther Ralston), a judge's daughter, is arrested during a raid on a gambling house, the owner, King Moss (Sidney Blackmer), saves her from certain scandal. Moss insists Viola repay him romantically and by helping him smuggle illegal aliens, but immigration inspector Baxter (Regis Toomey), infatuated with Viola, goes after Moss.
