Watch The Gangster

The Gangster (2012) follows the lives of a gangster in the 60's and 70's in Thailand. The film is centered on the life of Jod who becomes a gangster by circumstances; he has to protect himself, his mother and sister from the violence in the city streets of Bangkok where he lives. The first hour of the movie is full of violence as it attempts to let the audience know how unsafe the streets are and why Jod has to become a gangster and fight the crime bosses who control the streets.

The film is interspaced with periods when Jod goes to prison for several years and when he forms his own gang after being released. The Gangster is also not only about violence as it also shows the entertainment that people in the 60' and 70's usually indulged in. This included going to watch American movies, which are translated to them in the theater. In addition, to add a little bit of authenticity to the film, there are also interviews about real gangsters weaved into the movie (who talk about the characters of Jod and how gangs acted like savages during this time).
