The "Red" Bolsheviks are aided by Hungarian Communists against the "White" Czarists. A field hospital and a monastery are held by first one side and then the other. The brutality of both sides is highlighted by violence against civilians. Instead of the heroic story of the birth of Soviet Communism, it is a tale of the horrors and chaos of war.
