The Telegraphist is a Norwegian film that was directed by Erik Gustavson. The film is based on the novel “The Dreamers” that was written by Knut Hamsun. It is about a man who is an important man in North Western Norway around 1900. This man works as a telegraph operator. He would like to marry the daughter of a local factory owner. Two things stand in their way though. She is engaged to a ship owner who’s connections are useful to her father, and the second is that this man is not very well off. He throws himself into investing in hopes he will be able to bring himself out of the poverty state that he has found himself in.
