This Japanese action and adventure film premiered in theaters in 1962. The film follows Zatoichi, a highly skilled but blind swordsman and masseur. He is summoned to the presence of a powerful Japanese lord to perform a massage. After discovering the deep dark secret of the lord, Zatoichi is pursued by the lord's servants who want him dead for fear of him revealing the secret. They hire local thugs to track down and kill Zatoichi. The blind swordsman gets help from an unlikely group of prostitutes who help him to evade his pursuers. In the end Zatoichi must do battle with his own brother if he is to survive and make it back home.
