Directors Serge Bromberg and Eric Lange chronicle the journey of "A Trip to the Moon" from production in 1902, to the astonishing rediscovery in 1993, to the eventual restoration and opening at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. The documentary includes interviews with filmmakers Costa Gavras, Michel Gondry, Michel Hazanavicius, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet on Meliès enduring significance to cinema.

A true feast of George Meliès' fantastic imagination, "The Eclipse, or the Courtship of the Sun and Moon is a great example the director's late-work featuring superimpositions, rolling scenery and spectacular pyrotechnics for the time. Viewing through a telescope, we are transported to the wondrous event as the eager and slightly sensual sun and moon come together.
