An Evening at the Improv was a classic American television show which was aired from 1981 to 1996. Produced by Budd Friedman, the show was a combination of comedy and improvisation. Famous comedians, musicians, and other entertainers performed on the show which became a significant breakthrough in the comedy industry.

Budd Friedman, a successful entrepreneur and television producer, opened up The Improv in New York City in 1963. The Improv became a hit spot for young comedians to perform and hone their craft. It provided an excellent place for comedians to showcase their talent in a venue that was both welcoming and filled with opportunity. With the establishment of The Improv, Friedman created a new concept in entertainment that revolutionized the world of comedy.
