Dead Famous DNA was a six-part documentary series that aired on Channel 4 in 2014. The show was presented by Dr. Mark Evans, a veterinary surgeon and anatomist. The concept of the show was to analyze the DNA of famous historical figures, such as Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Napoleon Bonaparte, Elvis Presley, and Marilyn Monroe, using the latest scientific techniques. The idea was to learn more about these iconic figures by studying their genetic makeup, and ultimately answer some of the unanswered questions about their lives and deaths.
Each episode focused on a different celebrity, with Mark Evans taking the audience on a journey of discovery. He interviewed experts in the fields of genetics, history, and forensic science to build a picture of the person in question. He also traveled to various locations around the world to collect DNA samples, including artifacts and bone fragments belonging to the famous figure, as well as samples from living relatives.
