Empire is an American television series that aired on Fox from 2015 to 2020. The show revolves around the Lyon family, and their struggle to maintain their music and entertainment empire, Empire Entertainment, while facing various challenges and obstacles. The main character, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), is the founder and CEO of the Empire Entertainment. He is a former drug dealer turned music mogul who is determined to keep his family and the company on top. His ex-wife, Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), who spent seventeen years in prison for drug dealing, comes back into the picture and demands her share of the company, which complicates things for Lucious.
Their three sons, Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal (Jussie Smollett), and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) also play a major role in the show. Andre is the eldest son who has an MBA and mainly oversees the business operations of the company. He is also struggling with bipolar disorder and his relationship with his wife (Kaitlin Doubleday). Jamal is the middle son who is a talented musician but struggles with the disapproval of his father regarding his sexuality. Hakeem is the youngest son who has a great music talent and an immature personality.
