The show followed the lives of Todd Ray and his family as they ran their magical museum, the Venice Beach Freakshow, in Los Angeles, California. The museum showcased some of the most unique and bizarre performers from around the world who had come together to create a family of their own.

Todd Ray, the owner and curator of the Venice Beach Freakshow, was a former music producer who had traded his suits and ties for a life surrounded by oddities and performers. He had always been fascinated by the unusual and had a passion for showcasing the beauty in the things that many people often overlooked. His collection contained a diverse range of performing acts, including fire-eaters, sword-swallowers, bearded ladies, and many more.

The Venice Beach Freakshow was staffed by a group of eccentric individuals, each with their own unique set of skills and quirks. Todd's daughter, Asia Ray, was a talented young contortionist who had grown up in the circus and had a passion for all things weird and wonderful.
