Watch Humanist

Humanist is a drama which features a detective who uses his philosophical knowledge to solve a specific variety of crimes. The lead character, Lt. Spinoza, is a former academic whose department was cut during the 2008 budget crisis. His second career involves him working for various government agencies as a specialist whose expertise in philosophy helps him track down a certain class of highly educated criminal.

Spinoza is generally in a different location each episode, and his expertise in the mind-body question is a recurring theme throughout the first season. He ends each episode writing a dissertation on criminal theory.
