Mad Dogs is an American dark-comedy thriller television series produced by Amazon Studios. The show is a remake of the British show of the same name, created by Cris Cole. The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 15, 2015, and ran for a total of ten episodes over two seasons.
The show follows a group of forty-something friends, all with different backgrounds and personalities, who reunite in Belize for a vacation. The group consists of four friends, played by Ben Chaplin, Michael Imperioli, Romany Malco, and Steve Zahn. The fifth member of the group is played by Billy Zane, a wealthy man who invites the group to vacation at his luxurious villa in Belize. However, things quickly take a dark turn when their peaceful vacation becomes a living nightmare.
The story of Mad Dogs is centered around the four friends, who are all struggling with their own personal issues. Joel (Chaplin) is divorced and financially struggling. Cobi (Imperioli) is a disgraced accountant who has embezzled money from his clients. Gus (Malco) is a teacher who cannot stand his job, and Lex (Zahn) is a Hollywood writer who has had trouble maintaining any kind of stability in his personal life.
When they arrive in Belize, they are greeted by their friend Milo (Zane), who has made it big in the country and lives in a luxurious villa surrounded by beautiful scenery. But their holiday takes a dark and twisted turn when they witness the murder of a local, and are subsequently kidnapped, tortured and threatened by a ruthless drug lord, played by Enrique Murciano.
