Midas is a South Korean drama TV series that was aired on the South Korean channel SBS from February to May 2011. The show is directed by Kang Shin-Hyo, and its screenwriter is Choi Wan-kyu. The show stars Jang Hyuk, Lee Min-Jung, Kim Hee-Ae, No Min-woo and Ryu Seung-Soo in the lead roles.
The show is a story about two childhood friends, one became a successful businessman while the other a hired gunslinger. Kim Do-Hyun played by Jang Hyuk, a brilliant, and ambitious man who is determined to climb the ladder of success and wealth. He works for a large financial corporation, One Network Investment Group, which is headed by his mentor, Korenn, played by Kim Hee-ae. However, when conflict arises within the company, Do-Hyun's loyalty is tested, and he is forced to choose between the principles he believes in and the people he loves.
Midas highlights the crooked and corrupt world of finance and the ruthless climb to the top. The show is aptly titled Midas after the Greek Mythological King Midas who wished everything he touched would turn to gold. Just like the king, Do-Hyun has a singular goal: to make money, lots of it. He has no time for love, family, or friends. He is a man on a mission.
