Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet, an Apple TV+ original sitcom, is a hilarious and engaging show that follows a group of video game developers as they navigate the ins and outs of the industry. Created by Rob McElhenney, known for his work on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Charlie Day, this show explores the often chaotic and quirky world of gaming development through the eyes of a team of developers and designers at the fictional video game company Mythic Quest.

At the center of the show is Ian Grimm, the titular character played by Rob McElhenney. Grimm is the creative director of Mythic Quest, and is obsessed with making his latest game, also called Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet, the biggest hit of all time. He's egotistical, abrasive, and often insensitive, but he's also brilliant and driven, which makes for some interesting conflicts as the show progresses.

Opposite Grimm is Poppy Li, played by the talented Charlotte Nicdao. Poppy is the lead engineer on Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet, and is as brilliant as she is quirky. She's often the voice of reason in the group, and constantly pushes back against Grimm's outlandish ideas. Their interactions and differences are a central theme throughout the show.

The rest of the team at Mythic Quest are also incredibly entertaining to watch. Ashly Burch plays Rachel, the head writer for the game, and her mixture of sarcasm and wit is a delight to witness. Jesse Ennis plays Jo, the head of monetization for the game, and her ruthless nature and dedication to making money often puts her at odds with the rest of the team. David Hornsby is David, the executive producer of the game, and his constant desire to be in the limelight provides for some terrific comedic moments.

What makes Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet so unique is its balance of humor with more serious issues. While the show is certainly a satire of the gaming industry and the personalities that come with it, it also tackles subjects like loneliness, grief, and identity. Episode 5 of the first season, titled "A Dark Quiet Death," is particularly poignant and stands out as one of the best episodes of the show.

The production value of the show is also exceptional. The sets are detailed, colorful, and often quite impressive in their scale. The soundtrack features some great original music, and the writing is sharp and witty. The show also doesn't shy away from being quite graphic in its depictions of violence and sexual content, which may not be for everyone.

Overall, Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet is a standout show on Apple TV+. It's a perfect blend of humor, drama, and satire, with fantastic performances from its cast of talented actors. The gaming industry is often misunderstood and overlooked in popular media, but this show does an excellent job of shining a light on the creative and quirky minds behind some of the biggest games in the world. Whether you're a gamer or not, this show is definitely worth checking out.
