As Grawin burns and camps are destroyed in cataclysmic fires, the Bushmen, Rod, Sam and Ben must use their last dig of the season to secure enough opal for Les' long-awaited retirement. The Blacklighters limp into their final week still without team leader Mark and Paul
takes the lead in an opal sale, but some erroneous mental arithmetic ends up costing the boys thousands of dollars. The Misfits defy Opal Joe's orders and divide forces until Cody almost meets his demise down a 10-metre mine shaft. Angel unearths crystal opal in Andamooka's biggest open cut mine and hopes to trade it for a brand-new house before season end.
19. The Good, the Bad and the Overcooked

Slim Pickings' ground-breaking mining technique risks dissipating into dust due to a devastating drought, so Lee and Roger spend their last dig of the season attempting to find enough opal to purchase a water saving trommel. The Cheals go into overdrive as they hit a massive pocket of plate sized opal in their open cut mine, bringing the promise of a record-breaking season for Chris, Mark and their families. The Mooka Boys have one final chance to rescue their worst season ever but brutal Outback temperatures cripple Cozza with severe heat stroke forcing him to be carried out of the mine in the excavator bucket.
18. Right on the Mark

Closing in on their one-million-dollar season target, the Cheals finally get two agitators up and running doubling opal production but face off against veteran opal dealer Sonja Trifunovic in an attempted one hundred-thousand-dollar sale. The Blacklighters' team leader Mark I'Anson is severely injured and hospitalised in a mining accident forcing Paul and John to work overtime on two separate claims to scrape together enough opal to survive the week. On their last load of fuel, the Mooka Boys' season from hell continues as their only working digger overheats and dumps diesel, forcing Matt and brother Cozza on a night mission that unearths unusual glowing yellow rocks.
17. School of Hard Rocks

With Rod away on urgent Mines Department business, leaving Les in charge, Sam and Ben battle a dangerously steep ramp underground. After sinking a new shaft to save their backs, The Bushmen are stonewalled by impenetrable rock. It's the last dig of the season and Dan and Renee are fighting ultrahard rock in a hail Mary search for opal at Benito's, until dust and gusts force the pair to return at night where they encounter thieving 'night-shifters'. After a season-long battle against an unyielding rock cap, The Mooka Boys are finally ready to start tunnelling toward black opal glory, until their last working machine suffers a catastrophic breakdown.

Mining on his own and desperate for cash, Dan Measey takes a gamble on new but unproven opal-detecting AI technology which could revolutionise the opal industry... if it works.
As rising temperatures herald the end of the season, The Misfits must repair a derelict auto bucket tipper to connect two underground drives. A jammed tipper bucket leaves Cody trapped and at the mercy the machine's deadly reputation.
Locked in the grip of a relentless drought, Slim Pickings Lee and Roger lose the race to tailout before their parched dam finally dries up, forcing the team to relocate their mining operation in desperate search of water.
15. Trucking Fun

Forced to backfill a deadly section of their Robbie's Mine, The Bushmen scramble to dig to a newly drilled emergency shaft before they can resume mining. Their efforts are then thwarted by a seized powerpack.
Desperate to recover costs and hot on the trail of elusive colour, The Blacklighters enlist team finance manager, Rachel, to truck loads of dirt from Servo claim to process through Opalzilla in a struggle to maximise findings.
As the mercury soars, The Mooka Boys embark on a dangerous mission to crane a vital DIY shelter across the Lunatic Opal Field before they can continue mining in the blistering sun. Cozza bogs the dump truck.
14. Bench Marks
June 3, 2024
The Mooka Boys' hopes of a season-saving pocket of black opal are decimated by a busted starter motor on their dozer, crippling their attack against an impenetrable rock cap shielding the opal level below.
Blacklighters Mark and Paul are forced to shift 20,000 tonnes of waste dirt to make their treacherous mine face safe, while John battles Mines Department red tape after running out of noodle-able dirt at 12 Mile.
Oscar sends The Cheals on an important mission to unearth a rare green-orange gemstone for a potential buyer, while Chris' fabricating skills are put to the test to get a second agitator online before season end.
13. A Festival of Opal
June 3, 2024
The Bushmen risk their lives 12 metres underground, beneath a crumbling roof attempting to free their stranded digger, while Sam Mehan swaps steel caps for stilettos in the Opal Queen Ball.
On the eve of the famous Lightning Ridge Opal Festival and outta time, The Misfits battle to treat 150kg of matrix opal, forcing Cody to cook up a miracle. In Lightning Ridge, seasoned buyers threaten to derail the team's massive sale.
Rory Cheal returns to the fold, joining Mark in the open cut on their million-dollar hunt. Chris receives a season-saving phone call at the eleventh hour, before supporting his fiancee in the Opal Queen Ball.
12. Diesel Doozies
June 3, 2024
Drowning in a sea of overburden, The Blacklighters face off against each other as Mark's inexperience with the dozer proves too much for Paul, before a broken fuel pump delivers the final blow.
In their ongoing struggle against a near-impenetrable rock cap on their Lunatic claim, The Mooka Boys enlist a powder monkey to crack the cap but are blindsided when Matt's infant daughter requires airlifting to hospital.
Slim Pickings are forced to relocate their entire wash-plant in the rush to fulfil a high-stakes order for an international buyer, but a leaking fuel hose almost sends their excavator, along with their dreams, up in flames.
11. Glitch in the Matrix
June 3, 2024
In the race to meet a colossal rainbow matrix order ahead of the Lightning Ridge Opal Festival, The Misfits are forced to work through the night, betting everything on untested DIY contraptions to meet quota.
After depleting Diggers Gully of opal, Dan and Renee's hopes of quick and easy cash at their new old timers' claim are crushed when their massive excavator proves too large for the mine's narrow entrance.
The Cheals' million-dollar operation is sent into a tailspin after Oscar drops the bombshell of his departure, pushing Chris and Mark to work double time to expand their arsenal of agitators before the team's impending loss.
10. Water You Waiting For?
June 3, 2024
With water running critically low at their only wash dam, The Cheals work double-time to restore a second agitator. Convinced they've hit the jackpot underground, Oscar and Luca are humbled by the fickle nature of opal.
Blacklighters Mark I'Anson and Paul Coon get boxed-in during their monumental mission to clear nine metres of overburden at their new Servo claim, forcing John Nassar to wrangle Opalzilla at their 12 Mile claim, alone.
Amidst a relentless drought threatening to shut down their mining operation, Slim Pickings battle a bung wall breach and opal-smashing 'shincrackers', forcing them to utilise grizzly bars to save their stones.
9. Red Tape
June 3, 2024
In the wake of sudden Government shutdowns, The Bushmen are forced back into their deadly mine, Robbie's, installing props in a desperate attempt to reinforce the crumbling roof before it collapses.
With hopes of a future funded by opal slipping further away, Dan and Renee must work overtime into the night, digging too much too fast in their impatience and almost burying Renee alive.
In dire need of funds and working on his own, Mooka Boys Cozza Kathagen is driven underground into a condemned old timers' mine that, with its crumbling ceiling, threatens to become his sandstone sarcophagus.
8. Over the Concrete Rainbow

The Blacklighters are hit with a double dose of disaster, busting their loader's brakes and the excavator's hydraulic arm. John's mission to operate Opalzilla solo fails, and Rachel must work the darkroom to scrape together desperately needed opal. The Misfits run out of dozer diesel at Lunatic Claim and move to German Gully on the search for concrete rainbow matrix in a mine on the verge of collapse, unearthing the biggest opal haul of their season. The Bushmen are forced to abandon one of the most dangerous mines they've ever worked in and are blindsided by a government decision to shut down thousands of opal claims across New South Wales, leaving the team with no ground to mine.
7. Cheal Be Right
January 15, 2024
The Cheals' grand plan to add another wash-plant to their arsenal is derailed by an ill-fitting agitator barrel, and Chris suffers a debilitating spider bite, forcing kids Oscar and Luca to take up the mining mantle. Struggling to find another opal honey hole, Lee from Slim Pickings battles dangerous shaft-riddled ground on a quad bike as mine partner Roger contends with an excruciating rib injury. To finance a move to live with partner Dan in Coober Pedy, rookie miner Renee is forced to operate their massive 50 tonne loader solo, until a devastating thirty-thousand-dollar mechanical failure brings Dan and Renee's enterprise to a grinding halt.
6. Boggered

The Cheals' dreams of expanding their Opal Empire with partner Mark Bressan are crushed by the reality of juggling two mines, as the underground bogger breaks down while Chris is needed at the open cut. The Misfits are reunited after the return of Issy Glen and Joe Kalmar. In need of cash to fund a thirsty bulldozer, Angel attempts to divide and conquer, sending Issy underground on a hoist for the first (and possibly last) time. Desperate for some quick cash to fund the search for another honey hole at their Government Tank Claim, Slim Pickings' Lee Hobden takes a gamble on mystery opal dirt of questionable value.
