Relative Race is a reality television show that premiered on BYUtv in 2016. The show follows four teams of two individuals who embark on a race across the United States to find their relatives they have never met. The teams are made up of individuals who have taken a DNA test from Ancestry.com and want to learn more about their genealogy.
The show begins with the four teams meeting each other in San Francisco, where they are handed a map, a rental car, and a cell phone. Each team is given the name and address of a relative they have never met and are tasked with driving to that location as quickly as possible. The catch is that they are not allowed to use any modern technology, such as GPS or cell phone maps, to find their locations. Instead, they must rely on old-fashioned maps, are forced to ask for directions, and rely on good old-fashioned problem-solving skills.
The teams must race to find their relatives within 10 days, stopping at various checkpoints along the way to take on challenges and tasks. These tasks are designed to test their physical and mental abilities as well as their understanding of their family
Relative Race is a series that ran for 12 seasons (121 episodes) between February 29, 2016 and on BYUtv
