The Gifted is a popular American television series that premiered on FOX in October 2017. It is set in the X-Men universe and has become a fan favorite due to its mix of action, drama, and sci-fi elements. The show follows a suburban family where the parents, Reed and Caitlin Strucker (played by Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker respectively), discover that their two teenage children, Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Andy (Percy Hynes White), have mutant abilities. The leader of the underground mutants is Marcos Diaz (Sean Teale) who goes by the name Eclipse, and his girlfriend Lorna Dane (Emma Dumont) who goes by the name Polaris. Both are powerful mutants who are fighting for the survival of their kind in a dangerous world.
Jamie Chung plays the role of Clarice Fong aka Blink, a mutant with teleportation powers. Blair Redford plays John Proudstar aka Thunderbird, a mutant with superhuman senses and strength. Coby Bell plays Jace Turner, a government agent tasked with capturing mutants. Skyler Samuels plays the Frost sisters, triplets with telepathic abilities. Elena Satine plays Esme, one of the Frost sisters.
Throughout the course of the show, the Struckers and their mutant allies are hunted by Sentinel Services, a government agency that tracks and captures mutants. Along the way, they encounter other mutant groups and individuals, some of whom are friendlier than others.
The Gifted proves to be a thrilling and action-packed series that explores important themes such as family, acceptance, and persecution. It is filled with gripping plot twists and incredible visual effects that make it a visual feast as well.
