The eight-part series takes viewers on a journey back in time to the late 19th century, providing a glimpse into the lives of five modern-day crafters as they attempt to live and work in a Victorian-era home in West Yorkshire.
Led by hosts Anita Rani, Keith Brymer Jones, and expert craftsman Patch Rodgers, the series challenges the crafters to immerse themselves in the ideals and practices of the Arts and Crafts movement, a social and aesthetic movement that emerged in Britain in the 1880s and advocated for a return to hand-craftsmanship and traditional methods of production.
Throughout the series, the crafters must learn to create a vast array of crafts, from embroidery to furniture-making, under the watchful eye of their Victorian mentors. The series is designed to not only showcase the skills and talents of Victorian-era artisans but also to provide insight into the social and cultural context in which they worked.
