Unsupervised is an American comedy television series that aired on FX network from January 19 to December 20, 2012. It was created by Rob Rosell, Scott Marder and David Hornsby, the latter also one of the main voices in the show. The plot of Unsupervised revolves around two best friends, Gary and Joel, who are going through their teenage years without any parental supervision.
Gary (voiced by Justin Long) and Joel (voiced by David Hornsby) are two boys who are living in a suburban town in the United States. They are both in their mid-teens, enduring the challenges that come with this period of their lives. Gary is the more confident of the two, enjoying life through care-free activities like playing video games and hitting on girls, while Joel is more reserved, often getting involved in activities like writing poetry or simply staying at home watching films.
The main draw of the show, however, is the fact that neither of the boys have any parental figures to guide them through their coming-of-age experience. Gary's mother is constantly in rehab, while Joel's father is in prison. Instead of being guided by parents, they rely on themselves and each other to figure things out. Together, they tackle the challenges and insecurities that come with high school life, forming a strong bond in the process.
Adding to the mix of characters are the boys
